On 20-21 August, Dr Caitríona McLeish attended UNIDIR’s virtual 2020 Innovations Dialogue on Life Sciences, International Security and Disarmament. The event explored how scientific and technological advances in life sciences offer both new ways to address global challenges, such as the spread of infectious diseases, but also pose new threats related to the development of biological weapons. It also examined the challenges that dual-use innovations and trends in life sciences present for current multilateral governance and arms control frameworks.
