Dr Caitríona McLeish was invited to join the panel of the Chatham House event: Stopping the use of chemical weapons in modern conflict. Other panel members included Ambassador Ahmet Üzümcü, Director-General, Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). In her remarks Caitríona reflected on three problematic areas that exist today: the changing nature of warfare, a broader societal shift towards distrust in organisations and people in positions of authority as well as experts and finally on social media and the chemical weapons arms control and disarmament environment.
